Holly jumped out of her truck and shut the door. She walked over to her trailer and peeked inside. Rebel was so beautiful. Holly's whisper was soft and soothing as the horse stomped in the halted trailor.
"Easy there Rebel, I will be right back."
With that she turned and walked towards the barn. Holly needed to talk to Isa, the owner of Applewood Stables, about a job for herself and boarding Rebel.

Isa looked up from putting the last few personal touches to the barn and grinned when she saw a girl walking up the gravel path towards her. Quickly dusting off her hands, she came outside and mentally cursed herself for forgetting to fix her hair as the wind whipped at it. A trailer was parked a little farther off, probably with a horse inside, and Isa was glad that she'd made sure there was some new bedding inside. Okay, new note to self: whoever boards here gets welcomed properly.
"Hi!" she said excitedly as she came down to meet Holly. "I'm Isa, and you are...?"

Holly smiled warmly, her white teeth made it pretty. She extended a slightly dirty hand, it was truely hard to keep them clean around horses, but when you think about all the wonderful things you get from them, it truely is a small price to pay.
Hello Isa, I'm Holly Love. I heard that you board horses here, correct?

"That's right," she said, shaking Holly's hand. Gesturing up the path, she led the other girl nearer the main stable building out of the wind, where some stalls and horses could be seen. As if they were on cue, Isa's horses popped their heads out of their stalls, interested to see the newcomer and probably already sensing their new stablemate."And you're the first to come so far, so THANK YOU," she added with a laugh. "This brings me one step closer to making this place an upscale success."

Holly laughed and smiled. She liked it here already. Her optics glanced around, taking in the beautiful barn. It was all very well taken care of, almost new looking. The isle was swept and everything was in it's place. Holly turned back to Isa.
"I have two horses, what is the monthly boarding fee?"

Please, please don't let my memory fail me now, she thought, having an annoying tendency to forget important details when she got too excited. Fortunately she still knew the boarding fees. "It depends on your boarding plan, so the price ranges from $250-$400," she explained, walking casually over to the grey pony looking out at them from his stall. Jimmy reached out and nibbled at the edge of her jacket, but Isa ignored him.
"We have a plan suitable for non-competing or occasionally ridden horses, a plan for horses in work, and a plan for owners who are busy." That was how she'd always summarized boarding plans, and it did satisfy horse owners most of the time. "For the last two boarding plans we'll provide feed and hay for your horse--Field Hay and Grain--and if you want a different kind of feed or hay you'll have to purchase it yourself."

Holly nodded and smiled. It all sounded reasonable. She reached into her back pocket and pulled out a fold of bills. They were all twenties. She started counting out $800, that plan seemed to be the best since it was most expensive. She waited to hand Isa the money.
What would be your best plan? I have two thoroughbreds I compete in Stadium Jumping on.

"That'll be Plan C, then," she said after thinking a little. "Your thoroughbreds will live in the stable but they'll get turned out for a few hours everyday when you didn't exercise them--for example, if you ride in the afternoon we'll turn them out in the morning." While talking, Isa took out a small notepad from her desk and scribbled a few words on the page where she'd written down the boarders. Holly--2C.
Looking up again, she nodded. "Yes, Plan C is good for competition horses. You can come and ride at any time and then just give us a call when you can't, and we'll have them lunged."

Holly smiled and handed Isa the $800. She extended a hand to shake Isa's, taking another look around the place, which was very impressive. She hoped her horses would be comfortable...
Later Holly got Hal settled in her stall and took off once more with Rebel. They were going riding on the public trails. Rebel loved the trails, something about the freedom and fresh air...
