Welcome to Alfalfa County RPG! I'm sure you want to go ahead and play, but you have to read all these rules first, or else you'll have a hard time in this game. The rules are also visible on every main board as an announcement, so you'll be able to check back every so often if you need more information. Thanks for reading!
General Rules
--I will not tolerate any fighting on this site. If you're not mature enough to accept mistakes and differences, get out of here.
--Put all cursing and other profanity in COMPLETE ****, all letters. This means anything worse than the word 'crap'.
--No adult material, such as pictures and chat topics.
--Never give out or ask for personal information like phone numbers and especially addresses.
--The first word in the passcode is "Gusto".
--If you'd like to export or import horses, or you want to have an inter-site show, PM me.
--No PM'ing me asking to be an admin or mod. I'll do it if I know and trust you enough.
For any other comments, questions, and suggestions, just PM me, your friendly Admin. My name's Isa.
Sim Life
--One sim year is equal to 1 real month. Characters and horses MUST age, so you can pick the day of the month that will be their 'birthday', if you want to roleplay that.
--At the top of the site there will be a weather indicator and a day indicator which shows what day of the week it is, so that you know if one day has passed and your character can wake up in the morning.
--If your characters are 18 or below, they must have a family. You don't have to roleplay this family all the time, but kids and teens cannot live alone.
--Kids and teens will attend school, so that means no riding at midmorning. But you don't have to roleplay the school, just maybe coming home and rushing to change into boots and breeches.
--You may create as many characters as you like. Sorry, no roleplaying horses.
--Characters have to work with horses somehow. You don't even have to ride, an example is a girl who just came for a job but ended up being a groom and loving horses.
--NO PERFECT CHARACTERS. I know you all want your characters to be advanced level riders and all that, but PLEASE, PLEASE try not to!!! What's the fun in having a super rider at the very start? Besides, putting "Advanced Level" won't help your character in the shows anyway. So NO PERFECT CHARACTERS!!! (I'm also talking about personality, by the way. Characters do get mad. They're only human.)
--For romance, no roleplaying anything further than kissing. I'm strict about this.
--You don't have to pay for anything you buy in the Mall or Park. You do have to pay for feed, though.
--The second word in the passcode is "Mo".
--You must keep track of your character's belongings, horses and points, and MONEY in the Character Register. Just make one post per Character and then be sure to MODIFY your post regularly to update it.
--Characters start with $400,000, and get $6,000 every sim year. Stable owners receive $11,000 every sim year.
--You can get jobs for your character at the Employment Agency.
--I have decided that your characters automatically have tack and other equipment. It gets a bit too complicated when you have to buy all the tack you need and keep track of which characters have which tack!
--All characters must buy a house or apartment, or rent a room at the boardinghouse. Characters may also live at their stables (find out more later) and the housing is cheap because I just want a place for you to roleplay some more.
PRICES:
House on Rosewood or Goodwell Avenue = $800 a month real time
Apartment (Foxglove Apartments) = $600 a month real time
Boardinghouse Room = $300 a month real time
Some are cheaper than others, but that does mean you can't roleplay having big houses. If you live in a boardinghouse room, you will not have a studio or a big kitchen or a large living room with fireplace!
Stables and Boarding
--All characters' horses, whether leased or owned, will have to board at a stable or else you cannot train! Boarding fees depend on which stable you board at, of course.
--Some stables also accept groom and instructor job positions, so you can also inquire around the barns for jobs.
--The third word in the passcode is "Ng".
--Stables will have boards where you should roleplay caring for and riding your horse, at least once every sim day!
--Some stables will require you to buy your horse's feed. You can do this at the Feed Store.
Your Own Stable
--Only players at Level 2 and above (See Point System below) will be allowed to create their own stables. I don't want all of you becoming advanced immediately.
--My stable system goes like this: For $90, 000, you get a stable with the following sub-boards... (WITH NO HOUSE)
*Office
*Barn Aisle/Stalls
*Tack Room
*Indoor Ring
*Pasture
*1 Trail you can name and describe
--For all other boards you want like an Outdoor Ring, Cross-Country Course, Farmhouse, or Feed Room, you'll have to add $2,000 each.
--If you have a Boarding Stable, you'll also have to specify boarding fees and services, plus privileges of boarders. You can also have riding lessons. There are limits to the prices, though-- Boarding has to be from $150-$500 every real month and lessons have to be $20-$50 for each.
--It's also good if you allow grooms to board their horses for free, or if you allow people to pay for lessons by grooming.
--Try to offer job positions like grooms and instructors. The more the merrier! That's why Private Stables are sometimes boring.
--If you'd like your own stable, PM me with the following form:
Name of Stable:
Description to put on Board:
Private or Boarding?
Stable Owner:
Lessons?
Extra Sub-Boards you Want ($2000 each!)
--Stable Owners have duties! For every horse they have to buy Feed and Hay at the Feed Store, either every week or every month depending on how much you buy. (The Feed Store says how long it will last.) You have to buy FEED AND HAY for every single horse in your barn unless you told the owner to buy feed and hay for his or her own horse.
--Once you create your stable, YOU HAVE TO create a post in the main board that looks like this:
Servings of Feed and Hay Bought:
Feed/Hay Will Last Until:
If your feed or hay has run out, I'll be modifying that post and PM'ing you. And every time you buy feed, I'll modify the post too.
--Stable Owners also have to pay an Electric Bill and tax of $1000 every sim year (every real month).
Horses
--You MUST BOARD YOUR HORSES SOMEWHERE.
--Once you create your horses, you do wait for me to randomize their stats but you can do anything with them under the "Things to Do" category, plus you may board them while waiting.
--Your characters get Surprises or Disasters regularly that involve their horses. If you are told to go to the Vet, you have to fix that Disaster as soon as possible!
--You can roleplay any horse you create, but NO PERFECT HORSES!!!!!!
--You have to either have your horse exercised, turn out your horse, or ride your horse every sim day.
--All your character's horses, disciplines and their points (not all stats) must be in a list in their Character Registry thread.
--Horses retire at age 25.
Creating
--When you create horses, you will be allowed to choose the name, breed, and PROSPECTIVE disciplines of the horse. But you can only request the height, color, and gender, and it will be randomized. (Don't worry, I won't give stallions to 12-year-olds or anything like that.)
--Horses can be trained in any disciplines after being created (See Training, below) but some disciplines just don't go together. You can't have your horse be a serious eventer AND a Western pleasure horse.
--The fourth word in the passcode is "Sinigang".
--Created horses start with 0 points and should be taken to the vet for a checkup. They also have to be boarded right away.
Buying and Selling (These rules apply to mostly horses, but also houses and other stuff)
--You can request horses to buy, or advertise ones for sale.
--Both the buyer and seller must agree and reply to the Trading Post thread before I reply saying Approved and you can edit your bank accounts.
--You're allowed to price horses and other stuff for sale, but be a bit cheap. 4' jumpers can cost $21,000 nowadays, but in the game $10,000 will be enough.
--The Trading Post is also a place to give and LEND money to other players! Please specify in your post if you are lending.
--For leasing horses, the leaser and the owner of the horse will have to agree on who pays what.
Vet and Farrier
--It's good to have a vet's checkup every sim year, since it's not very expensive.
--Your horse is shod when you create it, but you'll have to have your horse's feet and shoes checked up every year too.
--Vaccinating your horse is recommended, but not required.
--The fifth word in the passcode is "Ngayon".
--Your horse gets sick because of a Disaster, because you haven't gotten him checked up that year, or because I've noticed that you haven't been riding or feeding him properly (ex: Jumping 4' after the horse taking a week-long break).
--Your horse gets lame because of a Disaster, because you haven't gotten him checked up, or because you don't ride him properly.
--I'm not making the vet prices too high, don't worry.
Breeding
--If you want to breed two of your own horses, just fill out the form and post.
--If you want to breed a horse with someone else's horse, one of you will have to make the post and the other person has to reply with confirmation.
--Foals are born when I reply to your breeding post, and it might be at least 3 days.
--You may only breed horses once every sim year.
--The foal's birthday will be the day I reply to the post and say yes.
--When you breed two horses, the foal will not get all the mare and stallion's points. Their points will be AVERAGED and then computed, so it's not very good having a 600-pt stallion if the mare has 0 points. (Getting the average means adding the points and then dividing by 2)
--The foal will automatically be born with the disciplines of the parents! You also get to pick a name, and the breed will be a mix of the two parents obviously. I will pick the gender and color, but you can request and I'll think about it . The good thing about breeding is that you decide how tall the foal will grow to be.
--If I say your foal is a colt, you may choose to geld him.
--Foals should be halter trained any time and then weaned, usually at 2 real weeks old. Until they are weaned they stay wherever their mother stays. I won't have any abuse.
--The last thing to add to the passcode is "?"
--When a foal hits the age of 2 or maybe a few weeks before, you can have him or her trained under saddle. From then on you can start training in the different disciplines, riding, and earning points, but no shows until the age of 4.
THE POINT SYSTEM
And now, for the most important part of the game--they point system. There are two ways that you are judged in shows: The Equine Points or player's points, and the horse's points.
Horse Points
Training your horse at the Training board is not roleplayed and will get every horse 10 points for each training session. You may only train once every three days. Every time you fill up the form to train, you can choose a Discipline for your horse to be trained in. This doesn't mean the points are separated into disciplines, it means that the discipline is added to your horse's list and therefore allows the horse to enter shows with that discipline.
--A few disciplines like Equitation, Hunt Seat, and others that judge on your riding skills and not special skills DO NOT NEED TRAINING in those disciplines for you to join those shows.
--Example: If you created your horse with its starting discipline as Show Jumping, and you want him to event, you select Dressage or Cross Country as the discipline next time you train.
--Update disciplines in the Character Register.
*Training in a specific discipline sort of "unlocks" that discipline for your horse to be able to show.
**Sorry, no racing.
***Halter-training foals can be roleplayed; it earns no points. Training foals to be under saddle gives them 15 starting points for their first training session.
LESSONS are the same as training--you get 10 points for your horse, and since you will roleplay your lessons you will get equine points too!
Equine Points
If you look at your profile you'll see the number of equine points you have. You gain these by posting. These points are added to your show score and increase the more you post! (But if you post pointlessly to get better, I'll minus the points.) These points also determine what level of player you are and give you privileges.
0-200 Points = Level 1
201-400 Points = Level 2
401-600 Points = Level 3
600-850 Points = Level 4
850 and up = Level 5
Here are some privileges of different levels. There may be more to come, so look out!
Level 2 --> Can own stables
Level 3 --> Can create shows
Level 4 --> May be offered to become 1 board's moderator
Level 5 --> May be offered to become a Global Moderator
You might also earn points from winning shows, Surprises, doing good stuff etc.
Shows
--I'll create all the English shows for now, but I do need someone to create Western ones!
--To join shows simply fill out the form. You can choose to roleplay or not, but you roleplay after it's judged so you already know how you did in the show.
--You are only allowed to join shows in the disciplines your horse has experienced being trained in, even if he's only been trained in that discipline once.
--Make sure you enter the Passcode when you make your joining post.
--Horses may only enter shows once a real week and can only enter a maximum of 4 Classes. You can ride more than 1 horse, though.
--Shows are judged this way:
Equine Points + Horse's Points + Randomized Number from randomizer.org
--There you get your show score and then the judging.
If you'd like to make your own show, you must be level 3 on the Equine Points; you can have as many disciplines as you want and a maximum of 10 classes. You decide class fees and get the funds from them. Just PM me first.
Starting and Reminders
This is almost the end of the rules! So all you have to do now is Create Characters, get houses, get a job maybe, and most importantly create a bank account.
Once your character has been approved, please make a post with at the Character Register board. Then you will have to update that post with your character's money, horses, awards, and house(s).
That's all for now. Check back on the rules any time you want and PM me for any questions!
HAVE FUN!
Note: If you've seen all the information about the Passcode, you should be able to sign up just fine.
